Maple, painted finish, hand-forged hooks
Four kids, one mudroom, ten years of boots. I built a bench with hidden storage under the lid, six cubbies with name tags carved in, and ten hooks at the right heights for each kid.
The bench doubles as a seat for taking boots off in February. The cubbies have removable bins for hats and gloves so they can go through the wash.
Painted instead of stained so the inevitable scuffs touch up easily.
